This policy explains what data is collected when you visit this site, why, and what rights you have. The site is operated by Saša Janiška (contact: contact form), based in Croatia, and is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What data is collected and why #

Analytics — Matomo #

This site uses Matomo, an open-source analytics platform hosted on our own server. Matomo is configured in cookieless mode, which means:

• No cookies are set on your device
• Your IP address is anonymised (the last two octets are masked before storage)
• No personal data is transferred to third parties
• No cross-site tracking occurs

The data collected (approximate geographic region, browser type, pages visited, referrer) is used solely to understand how content is read and to improve the site. Because no cookies are used and no personal data is stored, this processing does not require your consent under the GDPR.

Comments — Remark42 #

If you choose to leave a comment, the comment system is Remark42, free open-source software that runs on our own server (tika.atmarama.net), hosted by our hosting provider wservices.ch. No third-party commenting service is involved, and no data about your visit is sent to other companies.

Reading comments does not require signing in. To write a comment you sign in with your email address and a display name: we send a one-time confirmation link to that address (using our hosting provider’s mail server), and clicking it signs you in.

When you post a comment, Remark42 processes:

• Your display name and a user ID derived from your sign-in
• The content of your comment and the time it was posted
• Your email address, which is used only to send the confirmation link and is not shown publicly

Your IP address and browser details also appear in the server’s log files whenever the comment widget is loaded. They are used only for security and operation of the service and are kept for a limited time.

Some older comments were imported from an earlier commenting system (Disqus). If you wrote one and want it removed, please contact us.

Legal basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by signing in and posting a comment.
Data retention: Comments are retained as long as the site is active. You may request deletion of your comments at any time (see Your Rights below).

Cookies #

The Remark42 cookies are only set after you sign in to comment. They are technically necessary for that function and are not used for tracking or advertising. The klaro cookie stores your preference (accept/decline) so you are not asked again on every visit.

Third-party services #

This site does not load scripts, fonts, stylesheets or images from external content delivery networks or third-party services. Everything needed to display the site, including the comment system (tika.atmarama.net) and analytics (matomo.atmarama.net), is served from our own hosting under the atmarama.net domain.

No advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or data brokers are used on this site.

Your rights under GDPR #

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of personal data held about you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Restriction — request that processing be restricted
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing
